Location

The course will be held at the University of Georgia in the Davison Life Sciences Building, room C128. Lodging will be at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Educaion & Hotel, Athens, Georgia.

The course and facilities are hosted by The Center for Tropical and Emerging Global Diseases and the Department of Genetics at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA, USA.

Housing

Participants will be housed at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Educaion & Hotel. The hotel is a 10-15 minute walk from the workshop venue (Davidson Life Sciences Building), and the hotel provides a free shuttle service as well. The workshop organizers will make room reservations. Shared hotel room charges will be paid by VEuPathDB for the nights of June 14 through June 18. Attendees wishing to stay in a private room will be charged $52 per night plus taxes.

Hotel check-in time is 4:00pm, June 14; check-out time is 12:00pm, June 19.

If you arrive before the 4:00pm check-in time, you can call the hotel that day to see if your room is available for earlier check in. However, the hotel cannot guarantee your room will be ready before 4:00pm. Their telephone number is +1 706-542-2134.

Attendees who will be arriving early or leaving late will be responsible for the cost of additional nights at $104 per night plus taxes for a private room or $52 per night plus taxes for a shared room.

Transportation from Atlanta Airport to Athens

The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (airport code ATL) is the closest major airport. It is 85 miles, 140 km (1.5 hours drive) from Athens.

There is no public transportation between Atlanta and Athens. You will need to make a reservation with a private carrier. Taxis are not a good mode of transportation between the airport and Athens. Use the Groome shuttle or you can rent a limousine with several others for a reasonable cost per person.

Groome Shuttle

The Groome shuttle provides regularly scheduled ground transportation between the airport and Athens. Be sure to reserve a spot on the shuttle in advance. The shuttle holds 10-12 passenger and fills up quickly.
