ApiDB/EuPathDB Workshop


The course will be held at the University of Georgia in the Davison Life Sciences Complex, room C128. Lodging will be at the Holiday Inn Hotel, downtown Athens. The University Bus service may be used for transportation between the hotel and Life Sciences.

Board UGA's Orbit bus route at the UGA Arches (one block up Broad Street from the hotel) and get off at Tucker Hall. The Life Sciences Complex is behind Tucker Hall. To return to the hotel, board at Tucker Hall, on the opposite side of the street, and get off at the Arches. The bus route is highlighted in yellow on this map.

June 9-11 the campus buses will be running on the Finals/Summer schedule. There will be no UGA bus service June 8.

The Holiday Inn also offers a free shuttle service that may be used for transportation to Life Sciences. Inquire at the hotel's front desk for more information.

The course and facilities are hosted by The Center for Tropical and Emerging Global Diseases and the Department of Genetics at the University of Georgia, in Athens, GA, USA.

Transportation from Atlanta Airport to Athens

The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International airport (airport code ATL) is the closest major airport. It is 85 miles, 140 km (1.5 hours drive) from Athens.

There is no public transportation between Atlanta and Athens. You will need to make a reservation with a private carrier. Taxis are not a good mode of transportation between the airport and Athens. Use the AAA shuttle or you can rent a limousine with several others for a reasonable cost per person.

The AAA Airport Express shuttle provides regularly scheduled ground transportation between the airport and Athens. You will need to make shuttle reservations. The shuttle holds 10-12 passengers.

Limousine Service:

To arrive in time for the workshop's first session please choose a shuttle departure time no later than 4:45pm (the 4:45 shuttle arrives in Athens at 6:15pm). If you stay to the end of the meeting (Thursday, noon) the next available shuttle will be at 1:55pm and arrives at the airport at 4:00pm.


Participants will be housed near campus, in the Holiday Inn Hotel. We will make the arrangements for the room reservations for Monday night through Wednesday night (checkout before 11:00am Thursday morning).

Participants should plan to arrive during the day on Sunday, June 3rd. The course begins at 7PM.

If you arrive before the 4:00pm check-in time, you can call that day to see if your room is available for earlier check in. The Hotel can not guarantee your room will be ready before 4:00pm. The number is 1-706-549-4433.

The course will finish at noon on Wednesday, June 6th.
Hotel check-in time is 4:00pm; check-out time is 11:00am.
